Not So Profound, After All?

Weasel Words
After plenty much thought, Extra Pound
thought again, how he might sound profound:
"Squeeze no weasel," said he
"Lest it not quite dead be,"
and such was the vice height he found!

Maybe this version is better . . .

Not So Profound as May Sound

Weasel Words

Wisdom and Courtesy

One often hears the following:
"A word to the wise is sufficient."
But I count seven words. Or is the one word "sufficient"?

He goeth before a fall . . .

Kpop Herald reporter Ahn Sung-mi interviews Kpop singer Kang Daniel on his yet to be released, much-anticipated solo debut album, and she opens by asking him to talk openly about this album, which he does (July 25, 2019):
The solo debut album Color On Me was inspired from the second track "Color" a lot. I thought it would be great if my unique color can captivate many people. I want to open up my infinite potential and show my diverse side.
That's the way, Mr. Kang Daniel, keep expectations low. Be the soul of prudence.

Be Not Procrastinacious!

Benjamin Franklin offers some sage advice:
"Have you somewhat to do tomorrow; do it today."
I agree with the bourgeois advice from the frank Franklin, and offer my own, similar advice:
"Have you somewhat to do today; do it yesterday."
See? I have learned from the man!

A French Aphorism in English

Charles Maurice de Talleyrand

As Charles Maurice de Talleyrand famously said once:
A diplomat who says "yes" means "maybe," a diplomat who says "maybe" means "no," and a diplomat who says "no" is not a diplomat.
Fair enough, but I would have rendered the English version as slightly different:
A diplomat who says "yes" means "maybe," a diplomat who says "maybe" means "no," and a diplomat who says "no" is no diplomat.
This small shortening wouldn't trouble anyone, now, would it? Brevity, after all is the sole art of wit.

Bliss-Fool Words of Encouragement

Drifting
He who hesitates is lost before he hesitates, not because he hesitates, but because he is already lost before he hesitates, and drifting is a lifelong hesitation.
