International Authors: Emanations

Emanations
The Tree of Knowledge?
(Image from Amazon)

I'm not sure if this anthology is available yet. The Amazon site states: "Out of Print -- Limited Availability." That's certainly not accurate. The anthology might be 'Not Yet In Print', but definitely not "Out of Print"!

In addition to contributing a few poems, I'm also one of the editors, though not the main one, of course, for I'm merely one among many. Carter Kaplan is the principal editor (as can be seen on the cover above), and several of us make up the staff of International Authors, which is publishing Emanations. We're a disparate group of 'misfits' from around the world who've been organized -- or at least brought together -- by Mr. Kaplan, the energetic writer, intellectual, and academic who has interests wide-ranging enough to have caught me in his net.

An email from him this morning alerted me to his blog post on a recent meeting of the UK members of International Authors. In attendance at St. Pancras Hotel were the painter Ruud Antonius, the writer Steve Aylett, the writer Hayden Westfield-Bell, the famous Sara Butterworth, the writer Michael Butterworth, the writer Elkie Riches, and -- of course -- Mr. Kaplan.

Photos of those attending the informal meeting can be seen on Mr. Kaplan's blog.

I'll post updates on the anthology's availability as I learn more . . .

And, the one pictured above is our Miss Fit. She's the most human-like critter among us, that's why she's been chosen as the cover girl.

I'd figured the tree of life to be female, the tree of knowledge male.

But the opposite must be true since the tree of knowledge had fruit, but the tree of life none.

None explicit, anyway . . .

Misfits? Artists and leading scholars, you mean, dear Jeffery!

There are indeed a multitude of allusions and symbols to be found in Kai Robb's cover art: from Teutonic mythology to Gurdjieff.

The front and back covers can be taken to be allegorical representations of the anthology itself, which really is an integrated whole. The front cover is a mythological representation of the "subject/concept," while the back cover is a scientific representation of the "subject/concept."

It will be available in a few days. Please stand by for the announcement.

Omigosh... nothing about the 2012 prophecies, the Templars and Lady Gaga?...

Artist and leading scholars . . . misfits. What's the difference?

Dario, everything's there for the taking. It is, after all, the tree of knowledge.
