Pre-Modern Limerick?

Mere Limerick?
"May peace be unto thee," saith cordial Pound,
"Though too oft hast thou set me up, that I clowned,
When I ought to have grieved,
Ought great sighs to have up-heaved,
Not mimed silence, where one expected sound!"
