Muslim Cleric Issam Amira Insists that Islam is Rightfully Mighty Intolerant
In a Memri Report for June 18, 2016 (Clip No. 5626, [Transcript]), we learn that the Palestinian Cleric Issam Amira, speaking at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque, insists that "Islamic Strategy Dictates Hostility towards Infidels, [and that] Tolerance Is Un-Islamic":
"[F]riendship [with] and tolerance toward infidels are unacceptable"[, and] "the strategy in Islam is hostility toward non-Muslims . . . . The notion [of tolerance] is very dangerous . . . . What kind of tolerance is possible with these [unbelieving] people? There is only one kind of punishment for those [unbelieving] people: to stop them, to wreak vengeance upon them, and to teach them a lesson. This is not achieved through tolerance, negotiations, or kindness. It is achieved only though might . . . . [This word] means forcefulness, ruthlessness, and hostility . . . . [As for the] young men [who] want to wage Jihad. Do you think you're doing them a favor by preventing them from reaching Paradise, and by keeping them here, where they live as half-men? There should be hostility toward infidels . . . . [Y]ou should be hostile toward them. The strategy in Islam is hostility toward non-Muslims."This is certainly Islamist rhetoric, full of hostility toward all non-Muslims - not just Western infidels, rather ALL non-Muslims - but it's also, unfortunately, not far from mainstream discourse in too much of the Arab Muslim world these days.
Memri, by the way, is an excellent resource for those of us who don't know the languages, so if you're one of us ignoramuses, then go here and get yourself subscribed.

I wish the "believing" people would be less vague about their beliefs. In order to get through to our Leftist comrades, they (the "believing" people) need to tell us exactly how they feel about us.
Be as blunt as possible. Don't spare the Left's delicate sensibilities. Tell us how you really feel.
Except that Leftists 'know' that religion does not actually motivate people, that religious rhetoric expresses a false consciousness of the actual material interests, interests that the Left will unveil after they have taken over, only to discover that religion does motivate people, after all, a sudden revolution in thinking about revelation when they are confronted with their own decision to be made: submit, or else . . .

Yeah, I knew that, HJH. The hopeless belief system of the Left, namely that human nature is perfectible, is analogous to the hopeless belief that self-immolation will somehow make everything better.
The unbearable lightness of Leftist philosophy is a heavy cross for the rest of us to bear (including those of us for whom the bearing of a cross is not exactly a fitting metaphor).
Yeah, I figured you did - and I just spent some space-time over at your blog confirming for myself your insights. I should visit more often . . .

Please do, HJH. I welcome your own insights and comments.
May I suggest my own post, "On the perfectibility of human nature", since it has bearing on what we have just been discussing here at your blog.
You may find this analysis of interest.
ISIS, of course, achieves its own sort of perfectibility by debasing human nature and calling that debasement perfection.

Yes, HJH, you are linguistically correct. Among Leftists, however, I believe there is the implicit assumption that perfectibility of human nature skews in the direction of Mother Theresa, not toward Hitler, Stalin, and all the other usual suspects.
Thanks, KB. That's why I describe Islamism not as extremism, but as radicalism at the core of Islam.

TBH, I agree.

As history has shown us, communists and hard-line socialists believe that human nature can be rewired and reengineered, and then resort to repression and oppressive totalitarianism when it turns out that human nature is quite stubborn and not nearly so malleable. This basic dynamic persists today in the social democracies of the West, albeit admittedly in somewhat mitigated form, which as many have noted often seem to confuse "equality of opportunity" or "equality of results." If you want to impose radical egalitarianism upon society, when clearly all individuals are not equal in ability, drive or natural talents, then repression, backed by state violence, threat of social ostracism or termination of livelihood, is the inevitable result. You will note, for example, that literally all instances of organized violence against political rivals this campaign cycle have come from leftists and progressives targeting Trump rallies, rather than vice versa. It is also why the Democrats lie so persistently and flagrantly, because their ideals and rhetoric often simply do not match up with reality. At the same time, Trump is hated so much precisely because he is so unfiltered and refuses to genuflect towards their many shibboleths and false pieties. Good for him, I say.
As for Islam, it literally means "Submission," which itself is ultimately a denial of human nature as many are those who find freedom and independence from all forms of authority to be quite natural and instinctive. The response, of course, is yet more violence and repression to ensure that all fall into line and control. The solution, as far as the West is concerned, is a stiffening of the spine and pushback if we truly believe in our own values and principles. Sometimes you have to speak truth to power, and sometimes you have to speak truth to, or about, your enemies, and there's nothing "immoral" in so doing. Indeed, it is actually politically correct to be politically incorrect in such instances, or so it would seem. The bottom line is that those who believe in Shariah law will clash with those who believe in the Enlightenment values that underpin our Western liberal democracies. And until the social engineers on the regressive left can have an honest discussion about this fundamental contradiction, then they are operating with intellectual bad faith and have forfeit the very moral virtue they claim and forever seem to hold over the rest of us uncaring, benighted souls.
Good comment, KB.

Haram! Haram!
(OK, I have to admit that I secretly like it, anyway, lol.)
The word "Haram" sounds so much like some old fellow clearing his throat.

Racist! Bigot! Fascist!
It seems you have finally crossed over to the Trump side.
Well, those epithets do trump all others . . .
