Equal Opportunity Disgust!
In "Homelessness, Party Style" (First Things, July 27, 2016), George Weigel speaks of being left behind by political parties, and he might as well be wishing a plague on both their houses in speaking of the Democrats and the Republicans, for he was once upon a time a Democrat, but journeyed away when it left him behind:
I now wonder whether I'm about to make that journey again: not, of course, to revert to a Democratic Party that has ever more mindlessly arranged its affairs around an absolutist commitment to the sexual revolution and its relentless assault on traditional culture, but to declare myself the twenty-first-century equivalent, in party terms, of a stateless-person. The Democratic Party once left me. Now, the Republican Party has left me by embracing Donald Trump, a man utterly unfit by experience, intellect, or character to be President of the United States (a trifecta of disqualifiers, I hasten to add, that I would also apply to Mrs. Clinton).I can empathize, but as an American abroad, I find my thoughts drawn more to the issues of foreign policy, and on these, Trump has already done damage by publicly questioning America's commitment to protecting its allies. Hillary Clinton has shown poor judgment in particular instances, but Trump's off-the-cuff remarks call basic principles into question.
Maybe I'll just have to write myself in as a candidate . . .

It is also well-known that Putin has a much more favorable view of Trump than he does of Hillary Clinton. In other words, Trump is likely to calm geopolitical tensions in this part of the world, rather than inflame them. He may even be Korea's greatest hope for eventual reunification!

When labor unions in the US and strongmen leaders in Northeast Asia can all find common cause, it is clear that Trump and not $hillary is the true bridge builder!

I think you are not the only American who is nauseated by their Presidential choice. But I think it is possible to "see" through the nausea if one considers the following comment I left at another blog site:
"IMHO (he said facetiously) the principal issue of the 2016 Presidential election is the future complement of the Supreme Court. From the time of the Constitution's ratification, which created this Nation of laws (not men), the Judicial Branch of the Federal Government has gradually crept to supremacy by usurping the power of making the law (via proactive "interpretation") from its presumed co-equal Legislative and Executive Branches.
The future of the United States, and I venture to say the rest of the West, is very much in the hands of the Supremes. God help us all if we get another "wise Latina" and a facsimile for the expiring Ginsberg."

What mainly nauseates me is how the mainstream corporate media in the US have abandoned any pretense at fairness, neutrality or objectivity. The New York Times has become the mirror image of Pravda during the height of the Soviet Union. Welcome to the USSA.
Anyone who bases their vote on media outlets that are little more than shameless propaganda organs for the reigning corporatocracy is not only a fool, but the very opposite of a patriot.
I've read the NYE for several years, and this year's support for HRC is the most biased that ever seen.

Monica's good advice is superfluous in this instance -- HRC, despite her large orifice, is not inclined to do it. Besides, Big Bill the C has already warned the world that she has teeth in every orifice.

No ifs, ands or buts about it: A total massacre for the American people.
Here's the basic deal about globalization: It's been great for financial elites in both the Global North and South, as well as the middle class in the developing world, but it has come at the expense of the middle and working classes in the West, which have been radically hollowed out over the past several decades. Obama and previous presidents have tried their best to mask this process of massive wealth transfer via expansion of debt and money printing, but the present system is simply unsustainable and eventually will implode on a scale much greater than the previous recession. With a $20 trillion debt that is ever and fast growing, the US economy is literally a house of cards that could come tumbling down at any moment.
The reason why the corporate media in the West have been so intent on demonizing Donald Trump is that he is a threat to the current globalist order, which is built on endless war and wealth transfer from the global 99% to the top 1%. It is the responsibility of national leaders to look after their own people, not the financial interests of transnational hedge funds, investment banks and other entities that are essentially parasites on the host of the masses, or the body politic of the people. "America First" means looking after the welfare of the working and middle classes in the US, not just its upper class. Some have raised the specter of protectionism or trade war if Trump is elected, but it can be seen that the mercantilist policies already in place in countries like China, Japan and South Korea are themselves de facto protectionist, and have been so for decades. Donald Trump is not calling for an end to free trade, but rather for fair trade that benefits everyone.
In contrast, $hillary Clinton thinks the current status quo is just fine and dandy, as do her backers in the mainstream corporate media and on Wall $treet. The presidential campaign this fall is going to get very nasty and brutal indeed, because so much as now at stake on both sides of the great divide (by which I mean not left vs. right, but rather between the 99% and the 1%). Clearly, however, if you are a genuine American patriot, then there really is just one choice.
