Dr. Zakir Naik on 9/11
I receive regular emails from the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), and just two days ago, a dispatch arrived with the heading "Indian Muslim Cleric Zakir Naik: 9/11 Was Carried Out by George Bush Himself" (Special Dispatch No. 2047, MEMRI, September 10, 2008).
Apparently, Dr. Naik is a medical doctor, but he also speaks and writes on Islam and comparative religion, according to MEMRI, and he serves as president of the Islamic Research Foundation, which broadcasts a program from Mumbai called Peace TV.
The following is an excerpt from a lecture that he presented on Peace TV on July 31, 2008:
I can prove that 9/11 was an inside job. I've got the proof that can defeat the proof that has been proven by the people. Just a few days back, there was an article that came in the newspaper, that 75 professors from the U.S. say and believe that 9/11 was an inside job. And in that article, it was mentioned . . . It came in The Times of India, I think on the 7th of September. It says that 75 professors and scientists, belonging to different universities from different parts of the U.S., believe that 9/11 was an inside job. They say that there were some politicians in the White House who engineered the destruction of the Twin Towers, and, they say, the main reason was so that they could attack, and they could have control of the oil-rich countries. Open secret, I told you.Dr. Naik has a very different understanding of "proof" than I do if he thinks that the claims of 75 professors and scientists constitutes proof. But what can one expect from a man who would say "I've got the proof that can defeat the proof that has been proven by the people."
Dr. Naik does offer a bit of evidence, citing one of the professors: "It cannot be a passenger carrier. It looked like a military plane."
I'm no more of an expert than Dr. Naik, but the image above, which can be found and seen more clearly here, looks exactly like a passenger plane to me.
