No longer putting all of her eggs in one basket?

The mystery about Hwang Woo-suk's research continues to grow (hat tip, Lost Nomad).

Yesterday (December 1), the online Chosun Daily posted an article reporting that Seoul National University Professor Ahn Cu-rie and Hanyang University Professor Yoon Hyun-soo, two of Hwang's stem-cell-research team, left Incheon International Airport for the U.S. during the afternoon, heading for the University of Pittsburgh.

In case you haven't been paying attention to the news, the University of Pittsburgh is the home of Hwang's former collaborator, Gerald Schatten, who recently broke with Hwang over ethical concerns about how Hwang obtained human ova.

Apparently, Ahn and Yoon are flying to to Pittsburgh to look for Park Eul-soon, another member of Hwang's research team. She had been stationed at the University of Pittsburgh to work with Gerald Schatten, until the recent rupture of ties, and she hasn't returned. According to reports, she has implied that she intends to remain in the U.S.

Park Eul-soon, in case you were unaware, is one of the researchers under Hwang who supplied the research team with some of her own ova.

I am guessing that she is the one who informed Schatten of how Hwang's team obtained enough human ova for their cloning work. Perhaps she prefers to stay in America and work with Schatten rather than return to an unwelcoming reception in Korea.

Has she decided, at this late date, that it would have been better not to put all of her eggs into one basket?

In this tale of international intrigue, was someone shadowing Schatten? You started it, with "eggs in one basket".

Good one, there, with someone shadowing Schatten.

Hmmm... hmmm... now who could it be?

Maybe, just maybe, it's 'Mad' Ahn Cu-rie..?

Uh-oh, the puns are approaching critical mass... danger of chain reaction...
