Food for Thought
Here's a poem by Michael Butterworth that I can entirely identify with:
09.04.14
Little Thinking
And Much Drinking
Always end up drunk,
Even though both try
Very hard
Every day
Not to.
Much Drinking will be
okay
Until Little Thinking
Forgets
And buys a can,
Then Much Drinking
Will have one too.
Little Thinking will sober
up but
Much Drinking
Will be unable to stop,
And so Little Thinking
Will have another.
In this way
They pass the day.
And that surely says all that need be said on how one sets out not to go on a drunk, but goes on one anyway.
This poem is from pages 180-181 of Kaplan's Octo-Emanations.
