And the 'honesty' of Lucky Strikes . . .

. . . Luckies are less irritating.

In other words, Lucky Strikes are irritating . . . but they're less irritating, less annoying, less harmful!

"Irritation against cough" is ungrammatical.

Funny posts! One of the "Marlboro Men" lives in Brenda's hometown of Hugo, OK. I have met him and he is indeed a rugged, in a good way, looking man even though he is in his late 70's/early 80's now.

I wonder how one gets to be a Marlboro man . . .

I recently re-watched "Thank You for Smoking," a movie based on Christopher Buckley's satirical novel of the same name; the movie and the novel take both the pro-smoking and anti-smoking lobbies to task. The movie features Sam Elliott as the first-ever Marlboro Man, now dying of lung cancer and thinking about testifying against Big Tobacco. Interesting and funny film which, despite being about smoking, never once shows anyone puffing on a cigarette.

I feel sort of sorry for smokers these days - there's hardly any place they're allowed to smoke. I don't like secondhand smoke indoors (I choke), but outside is different - I find I rather like it. Maybe it reminds me of leaves burning in autumn . . .

When I was young I especially liked second hand menthol smoke. Nothing quite like sitting on a stool at the counter in a diner, waiting for my hotdog, gripping my fountain coke with too much ice, listening to "The Tears of a Clown" on one of those mini jukeboxes they had all over the place, while in the both below me someone was smoking a Newport.

Good times.
