Poetry Break: "Imagine"
No, not that "Imagine." This one instead:
Imagine
This amber stone contains my soul.
When you warm it within the closed
cup of your palm, then turn it in
the sun, you see its shimmering
streak across a dusky sky like
fireflies on the summer night.

Good to see that amber inspired more than Jurassic Park.
The irony is that the stone was not really amber but merely looked like amber. I think that it was some sort of yellow-colored crystal with micaceous particles or metalic slivers that caught the light and sent it shimmering.
At the time that I wrote the poem, I intended the "amber" to mean "amber-colored" ... but that doesn't matter anymore.

I enjoyed that little one: both the post and the poem.
Nathan, I'm glad that you liked this little poem and post. I don't imagine that either made much impression on most folk.
