Mixed Company: The Avant-Gardes

Richard Kostelanetz announces the third edition of A Dictionary of the Avant-Gardes, which has entries by Carter Kaplan on Michael Butterworth and Herman Melville, as well as an entry about Carter Kaplan himself.

Buy this book because Richard and I share the same birthday!

Thanks for getting the word out.

Mr. Kostelanetz's book is amazing. I received a contributor's copy last week, and it is nearly impossible to put the book down. Readable, intelligent, insightful, comprehensive--it is precisely the sort of "guide" artists and writers should turn to when considering the historical and philosophical contexts in which we work. Critics and scholars, too, should regard it as a model (or a collection of models) demonstrating the possibilities for writing "usable" (if not dazzling) criticism.

Michael Butterworth will soon publish two new books through NULL23 in association with International Authors. Please click
HERE for more information on that development, and also for a link leading to Mr. Butterworth's new website.
